MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Charges against two Minnesota State, Moorhead, students accused in a July 9 home invasion will be dropped, said Clay County Attorney Lisa Borgen.
Borgen said Wednesday that an analysis of evidence and revised statements made by witnesses, have led her to decide that the state can't prove beyond a reasonable doubt, that the two men were involved.
She said analysis of finger and palm prints found on duct tape used to bind the victims during the crime did not implicate either MSUM basketball standout Deandre Buchanan or Brandon Jackson.
Borgen said the investigation was continuing, but she should not say if authorities had any other suspects at this time.
Buchanan, 21, and Jackson, 20, both Moorhead, had faced 16 felony charges for the robbery. Seven people were in the home at the time of the invasion and one man needed facial surgery after an intruder pistol-whipped him.
About $40, two video game systems, more than 10 video games and a bag of marijuana were reported stolen. None of the stolen items have been recovered.
